About Me:Holistic Esq. is a practice of integrative resolutions through creativity advocacy and healing. As a Holistic lawyer I approach conflict with sensitivity and awareness that friction between people arises from a misunderstanding of facts and circumstances and/or an imbalance of power to correct a situation into harmony. I facilitate understanding and compassion in adverse situations, whether a private conflict or in the courtroom. This is an energetically dynamic process for me. As a holistic lawyer its necessary for me to maintain mindful awareness of energy dynamics between parties such as tones, body language and gestures. Conflict and adversity create scenarios to practice kindness, reverence, generosity, and light-heartedness. Whereas traditional law relies primarily on the rationale of the mind, holistic law allows the wisdom of the heart to guide our search for a compassionate Truth; that advocates all perspectives and empowers the whole and the one humanity. LawMy legal practice is focused in Human Rights and Immigration Law. I am admitted to practice law in New Jersey (bar #00762-2006) and the Federal Ninth Circuit Court. I developed my law practice as a human-rights lawyer, in 2005, working with the National Legal Sanctuary for Community Advancement in San Francisco representing the Middle Eastern Muslim and South Asian communities impacted by Post-9/11 immigration policies and represented individuals impacted by racially motivated detentions, interrogations and deportations. I currently practice with the Law Offices of Judith L. Wood and Jesse Moorman and the Human Rights Project. MediationFrom 2008-2010 I worked in medical clinic setting managing staff conflicts and concerns. I conducted trainings and mediations to improve the quality of work environment. In 2010, I completed a certified training in commercial mediation with the American Institute for Mediation. I facilitate Conflict Resolution for private parties through the compassionate approach of Mediation. Sound HealingIn 2007, took a brief departure from the practice of law and embarked on an inner journey through Sound Healing. In 2008 I completed a certified training in Sound Voice and Music Healing at the California Institute for Integral Studies, San Francisco. Sound and music is integral to my spiritual practice and offer these gifts through personal practice, teaching and performance. In 2011 I co-created the live Sound Healing performance group known as, Avari, www.avarimusic.com Through this beloved sound healing project: Avari, we currently offer workshops in integrated Yoga Meditation and Breath-Work with Sound Healing, as well as Sound Healing Journeys (performances). SpiritualityThe basis of my spiritual practice originates in Yoga. After 10 years of practice, I am currently offering yoga workshops integrated with sound healing. Yoga is in and of itself a holistic approach to life and cultivates a unified relationship and awareness within our self. The many disciplines and branches of Yoga integrate the many facets of our individual existence into a unified consciousness. Over the years I have incorporated the learning and practice of meditation, breath work (paranayama) and sound healing into the practice of asana and body energetics. In 2009, I accepted a position as co-director of Sangha Wellness Foundation whose mission is to provide education and training on alternative wellness through Buddhist yoga, meditation, body-therapies, vegan lifestyle and community building. Sangha Wellness virtually houses the intention for community wellness through conscious community education and development. Sangha Wellness is co-directed by the Venerable Bhante Metta and is incubating within the vibrant spiritual community of teachers, ashrams, studios and wellness centers of Southern California. CredentialsI received my Bachelors degree from Scripps College in Sociology and Public Policy Analysis and a Juris Doctorate from New York Law School. I am a member of the American and New Jersey Bar Associations, American Immigration Lawyers Association, and Lawyers for Holistic Transformation (formerly the International Holistic Lawyers Association). |
